Re: Iran (so far away)

There is also a degree of 'live by the sword, die by the sword' which is relevant here. If you are a military officer conducting military actions, your are a Target and you signed up for that. At least in the US, we try to separate political and military leadership, and we have rules of engagement w...

From bean at Naval Gazing...https://www.navalgazing.net/Early-Guided-Weapons-Part-2 The standard airframe was also considered for by far the oddest guidance system of the war: pigeons. The unimaginatively-named Project Pigeon was the brainchild of behaviorist B.F. Skinner. Pigeons were trained to pe...

If you listen to the new EconTalk, it seems like you can keep doctor money flat and eliminate facility profit to create a shitload of savings. If you don't want to listen, look up the Surgery Center of Oklahoma.

Re: Random Observations C.A (306 pages is enough)

I pee outside on the regular and having to go through a lot of outerwear means a fly is nice because it's less stuff to hold out of the way. I don't want to unbuckle a belt, hold a coat out of the way, then hold elastic down, it's a pain. And a fly lets me avoid unbuckling and just, uh, snake throug...

I don't believe it. The answer isn't 5! The answer is 120. The answer is also 5!. But the answer isn't 5!

I don't get why that would be a decoder-ring moment, but I honestly can't think of the last time anyone's said that and it struck me as one. I want the government to provide first-responders and, you know, take care of their needs if they get hurt or sick...

Re: There must be a pony in here somewhere.

Demand isn't huge and you have s&p to maintain. I don't know what s&p means in this context. The thing about demand though, is one of the reasons the pharma will sell wholesale to Europe, Canada, and others. Being able to mass produce brings per unit down and improves the profit on US retail sales....

Re: The Road to Damascus

I would imagine that setting demolitions is best done by specialists with time to get it done right, not in a hurry, and a man portable amount of explosives is not going to do things like wreck and crater roads and buildings, whereas a few 500lb. bombs does it really easily.

I admit it is a bit untoward, but it's not unfounded like, say, an accusation of mental illness for disagreeing. And when one spends the bulk of this thread trying to warn those who one thought were friends ...
