Re: This is the thread for people who died, died.

I believe these words came from the Pokémon movie, "Life can be a challenge. Life can seem impossible. It's never easy when there's so much on the line. But you and I can make a difference. There's a mission just for you and me. Just look inside and you will find just what you can do."

I’m going to a country where the record low since 1929 is 66 degrees. Not looking forward to that.

Re: Corona(virus)? ITS NOT EVEN BEER DAMMIT!!!

The irony is that the pandemic is basically tailor made for a competent person with Trump’s background to clean up. Thank God he’s a fucking moron.

Mrs Mo got us an AirBnB for short term housing in Singapore. Turns out it’s near Singapore’s RLD.

Sure, but if your response is “hur hur, Germany and Japan have rising cases too, is that DeSantis’ fault,” then you don’t help your side at all (except with low info red morons).

Re: Corona(virus)? ITS NOT EVEN BEER DAMMIT!!!

I mean it’s pretty clear you can hold the idea that SoCal opened the tap wide open too early, AZ, TX, FL and GA went hog wild way too early, and Deblasio is the worst in your head. I think part of it is also that DeSantis and the right media were taking victory laps a month ago. FWIW, I think the cr...

It could be a localization thing. They’re Wonder Pets for Spanish dubbed Nick Jr. in the US and las mascotas maravilla for Nick Jr. in Latin America.

McConnell on their new COVID bill 2 days ago: "Republicans are ready to govern"
McConnell now:

The only good thing about this is that this fuckup raises the odds of McConnell losing from 0.5% to possibly a full 1% chance.

Re: You Learn Something New Every Day

Paloma means pigeon in Spanish. Which means Pablo Picasso named his daughter Pigeon. I presume that bird has nicer connotations in Spanish than in English. The connotations are different even in English if you call them "doves". This. A lot of languages, including Spanish and Arabic, use the same w...

Re: Corona(virus)? ITS NOT EVEN BEER DAMMIT!!!

I mean I know it’s the stupid baseball head but this has to be the worst fucking take. Germany is concerned about COVID with 1/15th the number of daily cases and 4x the population of FL. Why is the right so in love with DeSantis?

New progress on ornithopters. (Not human-carrying size, sorry Dune fans.) Growing radishes ON THE MOON! OK, not really on the moon, but experiments suggest that they might grow just fine in lunar regolith. Is desert sand as nutrient poor as lunar regolith. I can’t imagine that desert sand is that d...

Re: Whither the GOP? (post-Trump edition)

Why would the Ds pass gerrymandering reform. If Biden pulls out double digit win in a Census year, then the shoe is on the other foot. Sure in NY and CA they can play bi-partisan, but not sure purple state Ds will be as magnanimous.

Re: Whither the GOP? (post-Trump edition)

I don't know I see both sides moving away from the center. White terror will continue to be a short term winner as long as the opposition is BLM. The case for the Ds moving away from the center seems odd with Joe Biden as president and the current VP front runners being Kamala, Duckworth and Susan ...

Re: Whither the GOP? (post-Trump edition)

I think the next nominee could be Hawley/Cotton-esque, but I don’t think the winning coalition for that is there. For it to work, you need to convince minority working class folks to come over faster than you push away suburbanites. Short of something getting people amped up for a hot war with China...

Obama’s FP was wrong, but it was wrong within normal parameters. Aside from the sketchy stuff Trump did mentioned above, there’s also the ending of anti-proliferation treaties.

https://twitter.com/ChrisLu44/status/1286132094721236992 OTOH, Obama started two wars. (Libya & Yemen) How many has Trump started? Saudi Arabia started the Yemen war. Obama didn’t veto a Congressional bill to end a war (Trump and Yemen). Also, Obama didn’t give free reign to Ergodan to roll through...

Interesting stuff. I always sort of suspected that ugly produce had potential in processing and wondered why it wasn't going that way.
Yeah it’s kinda like how shredded cheese isn’t wasteful, but just the use of leftover cuts of blocks of cheese.

That's really too bad. Is there any publication that approximates a principled, thinking conservative conversation? Is there a principled, thinking conservative left anywhere?
