Re: Infrastructure

No one takes the train from Amsterdam to Naples except for college backpackers. More common is a Munich to Berlin, Paris to Frankfurt or London to Edinburgh type trip. Those are 4-5 hour train rides, but when you take into account getting to the airport and waiting, the train is better than the flig...

Re: And Then There Were Four (The Impeachment Thread)

IANAL but every law person I can find thinks the obstruction charges are not real. Congress doesn't have the authority to issue demands to the executive like that. A lot of the complaints here are complaints about how the executive office was designed. If Congress doesn't have the authority to issu...

Re: The "Historically Rich" game

Buying new guarantees you a modicum of quality and protection that buying from eBay or Etsy doesn’t. Yeah you might get something perfectly useful, but you might get something with hidden defects or search costs may be to high to get equivalent quality.

I don't know from phone calls, but I wore my 65ts walking to work this morning and could see but not hear the loud and animated conversation two hobros were having at the top of their lungs. I got those for my birthday and they are uncomfortable as fuck. I am doing something wrong probably. Not sur...

Re: The "Historically Rich" game

So this box is at least 30-something years old, likely more. That means it is officially an "antique," and in Ye Olden Days when today's antiques were new, anything "antique" was likely to be more valuable than its new equivalent. But nowadays (after many many decades of consumer-luxury mass produc...

Yes, clearly that comment in response to "obstruction of a legitimate investigation is a big deal" show you were just joking about the title.

MBS. The fact that MBS knew about the National Enquirer pictures before they were ever public is strong circumstantial evidence ??? It's evidence of a conduit of that information between MBS and TNE. The alternate explanation is that TNE hacked the phone and then informed MBS about it, which isn't ...

Re: And Then There Were Four (The Impeachment Thread)

Well spake DAR. I'd love to see congress reassert its constitutional authority. But it has to be an enduring institutional change or it doesn't do a lick of good. Partisan gotcha that doesn't last past the current POTUS is part of the problem. I'm not holding my breath either. So for today, the cir...

By contrast this weeks 5th Col. (ep 167) with guest Noah Rothman, was a highly intelligent and well informed back and forth on Iran. At least for the first hour, until Moynihan showed up when it instantly went to shit. Totes agree. Rothman's arguments gave my a lot to mull over. So I listened to th...

Did you ever try the Jabra Elite 65t ? I was skeptical about bluetooth earphones but found myself in a situation where wires were a safety hazard. But Wirecutter said these were the best and I have to agree. I had those and got AirPod Pros for Christmas and I much prefer the AirPods. Most comfortab...

I mean they were hyping his seasteading and anti-college stuff for years. According to Google there are over 650 pieces about him in Reason, which is a bit more than mild hyping. He’s been sucking the surveillance state’s cock even in his seasteading days and that wasn’t commented on until his Trump...

Mattis’ civilian and post-administration behavior seems to show that Trump’s assessment was accurate. Which particular one? I wouldn't go as far as to call Mattis 'a dope', but it increasely clear that he was singularly unsuited for being Defense Secretary and his reputation is both overinflated an...

Oh surprise surprise, Peter Thiel is behind this shit. Has Reason ever taken back their love of him, because he’s probably the American that enabled the surveillance state the most since J. Edgar Hoover.
