Re: The Sheriff Joe Arpaio Memorial Prison Reform Thread

Colorado repeals the death penalty . 22 down, 28 to go. Good news for once. This is unfortunate: There’s another wrinkle in Colorado, too. Adams County District Attorney Dave Young is currently pursuing a capital case in the killing of sheriff’s deputy Heath Gumm. The Colorado law also won’t apply ...

I hope the $1000 comes in the form of a single bill with Reagan (or maybe Ed Meese) on it. The historical $1000 bill already has America's greatest president on it. http://oldcurrencyvalues.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/3-9IACM-e1533454854516.jpeg As a bonus the serial numbers are all non-consecut...

Re: Corona(virus)? ITS NOT EVEN BEER DAMMIT!!!

Heh - back then the lunch boxes were metal, and came with a little glass-lined vacuum thermos. If you dropped your lunchbox, you had to shake the closed thermos before drinking to check for a broken liner. Can you imagine telling an 8 year old today to check their thermos first so they don't shred ...

I have to say this whole crisis is basically designed to confirm that my life choices were good and correct and other people's were terrible and I'm constantly paying for them. Government is simply the name we give to the things we choose to do together making you pay for other people's terrible de...

I think this obituary is meant to be serious, but if someone told me it was meant as a parody of woke Marxist writing, I'd believe it:

I'm supposed to do jury duty on March 30. Right now, I'm kind of wondering if there will still be courtroom activities going on then. I hope not. Unless the police stop arresting people and/or the courts decide everyone in custody no longer has the right to a speedy trial, I imagine the meatgrinder...

I can’t seem to learn the lesson that the internet isn’t the real world. Bernies flameout at this stage is pretty shocking to me. Every single donkey I know who expressed political views was a Bernie supporter. This kind of beat down isn’t “the DNC stopped what people want”, it’s just at least for ...

This is seriously funny After we voted, I told him I was upset that the Democratic Party had not prioritized a woman and/or a person of color, and that he didn’t support a woman with a real shot at the nomination—a candidate he loved— when it mattered. He was understandably defensive. I wanted him ...

Also recently binged through Bojack Horseman . While there was some eye rolly stuff on occasion it was overall a really good series. Arnett did some really fantastic voice work for that. It's amazing how grounded it felt despite being about a cartoon horse guy. They did a really good job in pacing ...

I mean I have my biases of course, but I've never seen "we don't understand what it really means" as anything other than "we totally understand what it means but will keep pounding on implausible theories until it goes away". Amending it would be hard. Getting it judicially read out of the constitu...

Re: Casting The Stand: Prestige TV Edition

Coincidentally, I recently finished 'Salem's Lot , which had been on my to-read list for a long time. This article does a good job of describing the appeal: it's the first half of the book where almost nothing supernatural happens. It's small-town life in a town that's dying without the intervention...
