I've heard this opinion before. It's the leftist equivalent of "porn is sin" as if you are raping the soul of the person in the picture because... well, it's just bad, mmkay...
I think it's awfully anti-feminist and very superstitious to assume women need to be protected from the thoughts of others who hold naked pictures of them (assuming those pictures were taken voluntarily). The assumption is that women never themselves choose to be nude, that RapePornMen make them through either physical or mental manipulation.
Presuming women aren't capable of making their own decisions seems chauvinist to me, but hey, don't let that get in the way of the thinly-veiled moral crusade against nekked ladies...
I've written a few professional articles on the theme "I paid for school as a stripper, and have no regrets," and the commentariat -- mainly self-described left-wing Champions of Women and the Poor -- had basically the same attitude as the Taliban: we must oppress women and limit their options to demonstrate the vast respect
we have for them. (Ask any member of the Taliban or the Saudi Vice Police -- they'll never say "We loathe women and hate the thought of them making choices of which we do not approve," they'll only talk about respect
They are also utterly incapable of grokking the difference between Consent and Lack Thereof -- write an article in favor of consensual adult sex work, and somebody will bring up the specter of human trafficking and the Russian mob. If these idiots went back in time and infected the abolitionist movement, the US would NOT have seen a movement to abolish slavery
-- instead, they would've tried making it illegal for consensual agricultural workers to get paid. Because the problem is "working in the cotton fields," not "slavery and lack of consent."
