Saw the first episode of the "Lower Decks" cartoon. The idea has great potential, but so far it doesn't look like they'll live up to any of it. As Jeff said, "It's like they can't decide whether they want to be Rick and Morty or Futurama."

I have next to zero interest in animated shows of that sort, but they really should kill off someone in a red shirt every episode.

Tilly, Rutherford, Dukat, and T'Pol.

I barely know the first, having managed about five episodes of STD. I have seen none of Lower Decks yet. Dukat is solid as long as I can make it in his political interests and figure out how my rescue will undermine Bajoran claims near Cardasian space, and T'Pol ... I mean disinfecting gel is really important right now what with the beer plague so yay?

Garak, Archer, Rutherford, Neelix.

Well Garak and Archer would make a good team I think. No idea who Rutherford is. I'm sure Garak could engineer something to happen to Neelix beforehand.

Damn it. I'd managed to forget all about Lower Decks until I saw Painboy's comment.

He literally lectures an angry godlike entity about injustice while the locals cower, terrified.

No, that was Peak Yar Incompetence, because she checked up on the legal system before they landed and didn't notice the "step in the white zone and it's your ass" law.

I'm cautiously optimistic about season 3 of Disco. "We need to rebuild the Federation" feels like a relevant story for the moment. The unearned emotional stakes are still there, but that's a symptom of the larger GAoTV 10-episode-season model.
