Yeah, that was the first thing I looked at. I was hoping more for why this guy is notable, since you mentioned him by name, as if he might be recognized.

Well it was a stand alone question, not a headline. So I think it's safe to say I've not trespassed upon Betteridge this day.

So you have access to every Twitter account in the world and all you can do is make off with $200k in ransomed BTC. Fucking amateurs. What you need to do is massive crypto arbitrage, foment fake panic on Twitter, cash out during the period of uncertainty and then hide.

Matt Levine:
i tell you what if i got elon musk's twitter password i'd wait until market hours to use it.

i don't know if i'd buy puts or calls though. or, like, NKLA.

oh lol i'd buy HTZ, that's the trade. "i've decided that Tesla will buy Hertz out of bankruptcy at $69 per share and make its fleet entirely self-driving," i'd be a billionaire and Money Stuff would end on the highest possible note

The thing is, doesn't Musk already tweet out such crazy stuff to make Telsa more or less immune from a flash crash?

That's why he's suggesting to pump up Hertz stock instead.

(It also overlaps with the series of stories about idiot day traders buying the stocks of companies going through bankruptcy that he's been covering.)

Edit: also, Tesla stock is super vulnerable to flash crashes because the volatility is super high. A few months ago Musk tweeted "Tesla stock price too high IMO" and the price dropped a bunch. And then bounced right back up. But if you're positioned to know what's coming, you can exploit that. (And then get arrested by the SEC, which is the key problem with most market manipulation strats.)

The problem with doing it on equities is that the unusual behavior will be traceable. Though the benefit with TSLA is that there’s a ton of unusual trading behavior.

The plus side of Trump being a lunatic is that someone tweeting from his account would be unlikely to set off a war. Trump tweeting, "I HAVE ORDERED NUCLEAR WEAPONS TO BE FIRED ON CHINA" would just be interpreted as him being mad about a bad order of General Tso's chicken.

The truly concerning thing is if some state actor was somehow involved and got access to all the DMs. That would be a treasure trove to use right before the election.
