Re: msinaisuhtlaM

"Having children is the ultimate vote of confidence in the future."

Well, not sure I'd agree with that, but I'd sign on to the converse!

Re: The Right Way to View Competing Political Horrors

I'm saying "joining a mob to break some shit and maybe loot" and "joining a mob to murder specific people" are fundamentally not the same thing in any sense. And, if you're part of a mob chanting "kill Mike Pence" while in the next room from Mike Pence, and you then subsequently tell me "I didn't a...

Re: The capitol insurrection and its aftermath

I wished on the monkey paw for a return to the original blogosphere without realizing what I'd get would be tens of millions of Bush bloggers screeching about aid and comfort to the enemy, begging for a second Patriot Act.

I can''t see the first tweet you posted, Nicole, and I share Shem's bafflement regarding what point you intended to make with your second. (Remember, especially regarding this particular thread topic, I have NEVER taken the attitude "Dems are awesome and wonderful," but "For all the many problems w...

Re: 2020 Status Check

I now thing centralized quarantine is a superior pandemic mitigation response. People are fucking idiots and we’d better off if we just locked down people that tested positive for two weeks than locking everyone down for months. and we still are No you aren’t. In most places in the US the rules aro...

Re: Orange is the new President

I'm a little puzzled by all of the calls to invoke the 25th Amendment. I'm all for the idea of getting Trump out of office, but the 25th doesn't seem really applicable. The 25th covers the case where the President "is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office". It has only ever histor...

For reals. Authoritarianism is America's core competency. If they can't secure their own house then what is the government even good for?

Re: 2020 Status Check

I could have thought it was reasonable that people didn't know there was a huge outbreak across the country in February. Not sure what country you're reporting from, but here in the United States there were 100 confirmed cases in seven states on March 2nd . Yes, because people weren’t being tested....

Re: 2020 Status Check

If you had told me a year ago that I would now be about a million times more cynical and blackpilled, I would have said that was impossible, yet here we are. The pandemic seems to have been almost a perfect demonstration that ideas like justice and desert were evolved so humans could pointlessly tor...
