Re: Corona(virus)? ITS NOT EVEN BEER DAMMIT!!!
I've said before, and sounds like it's still true, that the nurses and techs who don't give a shit about doing the details of their job properly are the ones who have the long tenures, because they harass and harangue the newer nurses who actually do care, who actually try to make the place run bet...

Judging from that thread, I have to assume that the bulk of the remaining Reason commentariat is made up of Tulpa and his vast menagerie of sock puppets.

I just watched HBO's Watchmen series. I'm pretty sure Crenshaw used the same costume designer.

This is a deeply cursèd post because I can already tell there is a part of my brain that will remind me of this every time I see the word; at first it will be humorous but at some point I'll realize I can't remember which is the correct pronunciation and which is the shitpost It is CRUCIAL that you...

Re: Voting methodologies
I'd be happy enough with just making would-be voters pass the same test we give to would-be citizens.
(I feel like I may have already said this here somewhere, so, if so, sorry for the repetition. In my defense, I've slept since then.)

It's not even to 25% OK, 90% was exaggeration, but it does raise the question, often overlooked, of what it is that people actually want out of a self-driving car vs what they say they want. (There are also taxis, for shorter, more random trips. You can pretend your taxi driver is a hyper-advanced ...

I don't really think Grover Cleveland belongs in the "One Term" category. He served two; they were just nonconsecutive.

Re: Voting methodologies
The only case to be made for state legislators selecting Senators is that they'll more jealously guard state prerogatives against federal interventions. That's one of the benefits, yes, but I think there's another potential upside (though, like many reforms, it's only on the margins where you'd get...

If we get rid of the EC (which I'm conceptually okay with) we also need to repeal the 17th Amendment (popular election of senators). 'Cause I don't want all of the pieces of government directly chosen by the mob -- we need a counterweight against their ignorance and cupidity somewhere in the system...

Re: Calling 2020 for Entropy
I think it's the states left in play -- there are a ton of electoral votes still leaning red, and not very many remaining that are leaning blue. So Biden may have little room to get above where he is now, while Trump could still gather a lot more. (All this, of course, ignores the massive piles of e...

I'll always remember Connery in the Highlander. In a movie about a Scotsman, they naturally cast Connery as a Spaniard.
A Spaniard named, apparently, "Ramierezh."

The town of Lyons was (and still might be) threatened by the CalWood fire, which flared up this weekend. Hang on... we had a Lyons in Oregon as well, which was lost to this year's big fires. I'm starting to detect a pattern. If anyone here lives in or near a town named Lyons, you might want to cons...
