Re: The Market!
There are two acceptable types of salt: Coarse Kosher and Sea salt. The end. I'm willing to entertain pink himalayan salt I guess, but coarse ground with minerality makes a hyuuge difference. Iodized table salt can suck it.

I just hope it isn't more of a "I'm laying the groundwork for a swell new FCC initiative," sort of thing. I've already had more of Mark Lloyd than I can stomach.

In terms of efficiency and time to completion, it measures up very favorably against the Big Dig. I wonder if the beavers are unionized.

My friends have had good luck with the Mazda 3 also. I'd also consider a Subaru Impreza.

Alas appearances are deceiving.
Unless we are talking about the next poster, who genuinely excels at myocardial cockle warmage.

Re: neither doom nor dream
My implicit assumption was that dhex's wife considered the CD a long term investment and not a source of ready cash. indeed. it's not part of our liquid reserves in my figuring. speaking of brokerage accounts, anyone have any favs? So, overall, I don't have much use for an actual bank. Good brokera...

Re: neither doom nor dream
To clarify, my more or less fixed allocation for retirement assets at age 36 is something like 80% diversified stock, 15% bond, and 5% cash. I will adjust these along a path similar to what the target date / retirement date / freedom funds do as I get older. I don't disagree with Mo's pyramid nor wi...

Re: neither doom nor dream
There are buckets of money that require planning over different horizons. If you are talking about your retirement bucket, I prefer to focus on asset allocation over micro management. Along these lines, rebalancing annually to a (more or less) fixed allocation between stocks, bonds, and cash works f...

Want to put a little side action on that? I want to bet the DOW/Silver ratio. The DOW closed at 10,520 and silver at 17.67 for a ratio of 595. Normally I'm a long term investor and I'd be betting on ten and fifteen years from now. But for funsies let's say the close on a week from Friday Mar 14. Sm...

But there's big ponzi and little ponzi. What's the right level for current productivity inclusive of debt and growth? Your opening salvo wasn't very well thought out, Warren, and frankly to the extent people might read such a sentiments, sell out now and buy metals at all time highs ... they would b...

On a related note, Nassim Taleb of Black Swan and Fooled by Randomness fame did another stint on Econtalk. I'm again in the position of agreeing with him 90% of the way when he talks about the need for robustness even at the cost of efficiency, then just shaking my head as he goes over the deep end ...

I'm in HP printer driver hell. It auto updated and something blew up. Error messages popping up like mad. Have to manually uninstall because the installation error seems to bug out all of the driver utilities. Blah.
